Nature

The Rila National Park area associated with Gorno Osenovo and Dolno Osenovo comprises 1,071.9 hectares of forest as well as 573.0 hectares of high-mountain pastures and meadows. The last 7–8 kilometres to Gorno Osenovo run along an unpaved road that is unsuitable for cars with low ground clearance. In wet weather, the road to Gorno Osenovo is difficult to navigate.

Culture

The Holy Trinity Church in Gorno Osenovo was built in 1925. A charity auction is held annually around the Holy Trinity Church to raise money for its upkeep.

The Kaleto Fortress has steep slopes and is most accessible from the east. Local tradition also includes the traditional May fair, which attracts neighbours from surrounding settlements. The traditional fair in Gorno Osenovo is held on 27 May, the Christian feast of Pentecost and the day before the Feast of the Holy Spirit.
