Nüziders can be discovered in many different ways: through historic churches and ruins, a trail offering panoramic views, outdoor art and sports facilities. At the same time, the history of the local area dates back to prehistoric times. Those planning a trip can therefore choose between culture, activity and nature, and tailor their search for a suitable holiday apartment to their own priorities.

Churches, Ruins and Traces of Local History

One of the prominent historical sites is Sonnenberg Castle. The complex was not rebuilt; parts of the ruin have survived to this day. St. Viner Church also represents the town’s long history. It is one of the oldest churches in Vorarlberg and an outstanding architectural monument in Nüziders. The first church building is dated to the 9th or 10th century.

Further periods can be seen in Nüziders’ present-day parish church. It was built essentially in the 1820s and stands on older foundations dating back at least to the Gothic period. A parish church in Nüziders is also mentioned for the first time in 881. In Laz, there is a Baroque chapel with a small bell tower that was built in 1672. During a stay, you can thus compare traces from different historical periods.

Villa Dressel was built in 1904 and combines Heimat-style architecture with Art Nouveau. At the same time, it is a visible expression of Nüziders’ industrial Gründerzeit around 1900. The former Schwarzer Adler inn is one of the few buildings to have survived the village fire of 1865 and is a listed monument. The former inn’s historic status remains part of its special significance.

Trails, Nature and Outdoor Art

The Hangender Stein Nüziders biotope covers 13.7 hectares and complements the cultural and historical attractions with a natural element. For planning a route, the Bludenz–Nüziders Panorama Trail is another option. The easy walking or hiking trail is listed as taking 1 hour and 45 minutes. Take this distance into account when planning your day.

Another option is Alpine Art Muttersberg, a circular trail above Nüziders and Bludenz. Eight artists have created works along the circular route. This creates a distinctive way of experiencing the landscape, linking the trail with works of art without requiring you to limit your stay to purely cultural or purely nature-based experiences.

Activities for Trip Planning

In summer, the skate area in Nüziders serves as a skate park. Its facilities include a quarter pipe, a pyramid or small fun box, a slide bar and an ollie box. Beach volleyball matches and beach soccer games can take place on the beach volleyball court. Anyone wishing to include physical activity in their holiday can consider these options alongside historical sightseeing and walking trails.

Choosing a Holiday Apartment in Nüziders

When searching for a holiday apartment in Nüziders, it helps to establish your preferred travel rhythm first: if churches, listed buildings and ruins are the focus, cultural discoveries are the most important criterion. For a more active stay, the Panorama Trail, Alpine Art, the skate area and the beach volleyball court take center stage.
