Mettmach combines the landscape on the edge of the Kobernaußerwald with trails, regional history and distinctive cultural impressions. Those who do not want to focus a trip solely on one attraction will find various opportunities here for active and more leisurely days on holiday. When choosing a holiday apartment in Mettmach, you can therefore consider whether you would primarily like to focus on trails and nature, cultural discoveries or a combination of both.

Discover the landscape and trails mindfully

An important point of reference for orientation is the Mettmacher Platzl project. At 15 selected stations along the 80 km-long Mettmach Bewegungsarena, historical, social, cultural and geographical topics relating to the area are presented. This makes it possible to combine learning about Mettmach with a period of physical activity, without limiting your trip planning to just one way of getting around.

Each Mettmacher Platzl features a bench, an information board and a QR code leading to a video. The individual stations therefore provide an opportunity to pause along the way and explore the respective topics in greater detail. For families, this can be a varied way of bringing together different interests: While some may be happy to continue walking, a station offers an opportunity for a short break and an additional insight into the area.

Another option is the well-signposted Stoavoglroas. It begins at the stone bird figure Brunhilde in the car park by the Wirt z'Wimpling. Those who prefer a clearly named route can include this starting point in their day's plans. The Mettmacher Tractor Hiking experience offers a different focus: accessible rides in a vintage tractor through the Innviertel countryside are available. This means that, in addition to walking independently, shared experiences on a journey through the landscape are also an option.

Culture between church and Passion play

Mettmach's townscape and cultural character are shaped by the parish church, which is dedicated to Saint Stephen. Its Baroque onion dome is a landmark of Mettmach parish church. Those interested in sacred architecture and regional history can include this distinctive point of reference in their explorations.

Another special feature is the Mettmach Passion Play. It is performed in a converted granary. The unusual venue combines the cultural tradition of the Passion Play with a building whose original use remains part of the experience's character.

Which accommodation location suits your plans?

When looking for a holiday apartment or other accommodation in Mettmach, the desired balance of your holiday days is initially decisive. Those interested in culture can also turn their attention to the parish church and the Passion Play. Those travelling with children or in a group can switch between more active sections, breaks at the Mettmacher Platzl sites and a tractor ride through the Innviertel countryside. This creates a travel plan that does not have to force every interest into the same activity.
