The Neumarkt–Unterweitersdorf section of the horse-drawn railway hiking trail follows the original horse-drawn railway line apart from a few short sections. It includes an adventure trail with nine stations. Numerous notable viaducts of the historic horse-drawn railway have also been preserved in the Kleines Gusen Valley. Part of the municipality belongs to the “Kleines Gusental” nature and landscape reserve; one section there is also suitable for cycling.

Historic Places and Regional Refreshments

Weiglmühle offers another way to explore the area’s history. The first records date from around 1481. The mill equipment, some of which is more than 100 years old, has been preserved in its original condition. Weiglmühle has been used for catering since 2000, and a snack station invites visitors to stop there. At Sonnleitner Farm in Hattmannsdorf, the “Franzosengrab 1809” memorial stone also commemorates the fighting in the Unterweitersdorf area. A skirmish on 7 May and an engagement on 19 May 1809 between a French-Württembergian jägers regiment and Austrian forces are mentioned.
