The rose garden was laid out in the form of a Baroque parterre garden. The chapels also preserve details of artistic and local history. The wayside chapel is furnished with a group depicting the Crucifixion and statues of saints by sculptor Ägidius Gamsjäger. In the Herz Chapel, a wooden figure of the Virgin Mary with Child stands in a round-arched niche, flanked by two angel heads by woodcarver Johann Gammer. The house chapel contains a large painting from 1853, which was restored in 1949.

Lahmair Chapel is designed in the Neo-Gothic style. In 1880, it replaced a wayside cross erected in memory of Jakob Aumayr, who died in an accident in 1830. Dates and craft details such as these give cultural and historical exploration in Fraham a tangible depth, without requiring you to limit yourself to a single museum.

Wiesmühle, Roman Brick Kiln and Oil Mill

The four-storey Wiesmühle can be traced back to 1250 in documentary records. The present building was constructed using stones from Eferding’s Linzer Tor, demolished in 1828. Since 1925, the water power of Wiesmühle has been used to generate electricity; it also powers a sawmill. In addition, Fraham’s Roman brick kiln is a reminder that the town’s history extends far beyond its more recent milling tradition. It was excavated in 1992.

At the Raab organic oil mill, a themed trail leads through the diverse world of edible oils. The tour includes insights into the oil presses and the bottling of oil. Afterwards, all the oils can be sampled. Spargelhof Mayer offers a different culinary perspective: white asparagus, also available peeled, green asparagus and Eferdinger Landl potatoes. The guided tour includes general information about the farm and asparagus, a visit to the asparagus harvest and tastings.
