Reiting brings together winegrowing, local history and tours on foot or by bike. The Reitingbergen vineyards have long been considered ideal for winegrowing; the village is also home to a chapel with a precisely dated history and several starting points for an active holiday. When planning your stay, you can decide whether wine, the chapel or a route will be its main focus.

Experience wine in Reiting

Those planning a trip around regional wine will find specific places to visit in Reiting. At wein|gut Hutter, Reiting 2, A-8330 Feldbach, wine tastings and wine sales are available without an appointment from Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Opening hours may change; check the times before your visit. Weingut Hutter also carries the designation “Vulkanland Route 66 – Erlebnismanufaktur.”

At Weingut Suppan, wine sales are available after contacting them by phone in advance on (+43) 0664/2224064. The two options require different planning: at Hutter, the stated time slots apply for wine tastings and sales, while at Suppan, calling ahead is part of the process. If a visit is one of the fixed activities on your itinerary, plan your day around the respective visiting arrangements.

Chapel and local history

A chapel in Reiting was consecrated on 8 August 1954. In 1994, a bell tower was added to Reiting Chapel. The dates mark two different steps: the consecration was followed four decades later by the addition of the tower. For anyone interested in the village’s history as well as its winegrowing, this provides a clearly dated cultural landmark.

Cycling and hiking

The Tatschkerland Tour is described as a leisurely cycling tour around the catchment area of the Gnas parish. The route description from April 2023 identifies the first prominent Tatschkerland Tour sign on the ridge beyond Weingut Hutter. This names both the character of the tour and a specific point on its described route. Check trail conditions before setting out.

The route description from April 2023 also includes a hiking route that starts at Feldbach Landesbahn station, passes through the Fisswald forest and goes past Weingut Hutter along a ridge. For the journey there, the description names the Gleichenberger Bahn, with disembarkation at Feldbach Landesbahn station. Check train connections before travelling and trail conditions before setting out.

The tours offer different experiences: the Tatschkerland Tour is classified as a cycling route, while the hiking description gives a starting point and a specific route. This can be a useful starting point when choosing a holiday apartment in Reiting.
