Schüttdorf connects Lake Zell with scenic paths, a protected natural area and several opportunities for active days on holiday. Those looking for a holiday apartment or other accommodation for a stay combining different interests will find options here for hiking, water activities, cross-country skiing and cultural discoveries. Your daily plans can be arranged in many different ways: from an excursion into the mountains to spending time by the lake.

Hiking with views of the lake and mountains

The “Ebenbergalmweg” begins at the “Dorfschenke” in Schüttdorf. From there, it leads uphill through the forest via the Ebenbergalm and offers views of Lake Zell. The route also leads to the centre of Zell am See. Another option is the “Seespitz-Zaunlückensteig”, which begins at the Nikolaus-Gassner-Promenade in Schüttdorf and leads uphill to the Plettsauberg and the reservoir pond at the Plettsaukopf.

The “Höhenwanderung vom Sonnkogel nach Schüttdorf” hiking tour is also suitable as a stand-alone idea for a day of hiking. It eventually leads back to the base station of the areitXpress and offers views of 30 three-thousand-metre peaks. From the Schüttdorf district, the areitXpress takes you to the Schmittenhöhe in a modern 10-person gondola lift. In summer, the lift provides a convenient starting point for exploring the Schmittenhöhe hiking area. When choosing your accommodation, it may therefore be important to consider whether you would prefer to spend your days on trails, by the lake or in both landscapes.

Lakeside experiences and winter trails

The Seespitz lido is located on the southern shore of Lake Zell in the Schüttdorf district. It provides access to the lake and has two jetties extending into the water. There is also a solar-heated swimming pool. At the windsurfing centre next to the lido, you can hire stand-up paddleboards and windsurfing equipment. The lido can be reached by public transport and by bicycle. This means that a stay by the water can also be planned without committing to a particular way of travelling there.

In winter, the approximately seven-kilometre-long “Schüttdorf Loipe” runs along the wintry southern shore of Lake Zell. It is flat and described as a cross-country skiing trail for beginners. Four kilometres of the trail run through the nature reserve on the southern shore of Lake Zell. The Lake Zell South Nature and Landscape Conservation Area covers more than 220 hectares in the southern siltation zone of Lake Zell. The route thus combines cross-country skiing with a natural area that forms a distinct focus of the stay.

Planning your days on holiday

For excursions within the region, the “Schüttdorf-Bruckberg-Zellermoos” city bus is available from Monday to Friday on weekdays. There is also a connection to Zell am See via bus 660 at the Schüttdorf ÖBB-Postbus garage. Those wishing to include a cultural highlight can visit Schüttdorf Parish Church with its Marienkapelle and the statue “Maria am Weg”.

In the Granisiedlung district, one of the WiesenKönigReich routes can be started near the tennis hall. In addition to longer hikes and time by the lake, this offers another way to structure a day around a specific experience. When looking for a holiday apartment in Schüttdorf, it is therefore worth considering which combination you prefer: paths through forests and mountain areas, water and sport, winter cross-country skiing or a mix of nature and culture. The options mentioned open up a range of travel plans without requiring you to commit to just one type of holiday.
