Pressbaum between the Vienna Woods, culture and water
Accommodation in Pressbaum
Pressbaum combines the Vienna Woods with culture, hiking trails and special waterside locations. Good access via the Western Railway line and a dedicated motorway exit makes personal planning easier, without tying you to just one type of holiday.
Discover culture in Pressbaum
A notable destination is the new town museum. It was ceremoniously opened on 1 May 2025 on the third floor of the town hall. The permanent exhibition is dedicated to the development of Pressbaum, providing direct access to the history of the town. If you like to begin your stay with a cultural overview, you can include this visit as a separate item in your travel plans.
The “Kaiser Franz Joseph Jubilee Parish Church” is also one of Pressbaum’s special sights. It is Lower Austria’s only Art Nouveau church and was consecrated on 21 June 1908. The Marien Chapel at the parish church is available during the day as a place for prayer and devotion. Alongside the museum and the distinctive church architecture, this provides a quieter place for a brief pause during the day.
Hiking trails, the Vienna Woods and springs
Pressbaum maintains numerous hiking trails through the beech forest. One specific option is the “Tut Gut!” Pressbaum hiking route, Route 1. It begins at Pfalzauer Kirchenweg and leads through the typical Vienna Woods, with its diverse flora and fauna. If you choose a holiday apartment as a starting point for active days or as a base for changing activities, you can include this route in your travel plans.
Kaiserbründl tells a special story of the landscape. It is the source of the Vienna River in Pressbaum. Since the visit on 23 April 1882, the spring enclosure of this source has been called “Kaiserbründl”. Anyone interested in springs, bodies of water and the formation of landscapes will find an independent aspect to explore here. Pressbaum also has a cycle network, so you do not have to base your travel plans exclusively on hiking.
Planning your waterside experience and journey
The Wienerwaldsee is a reservoir and the largest still body of water in the Vienna Woods. Together with the Pressbaum lido, it offers another perspective on the town. Pressbaum lido can be reached by train via Tullnerbach/Pressbaum station. If you would like to plan a stay by the water, you should pay particular attention when choosing your holiday apartment to which form of transport and which day-trip destinations are important for your personal plans.
Travel by train or car can also be taken into account in Pressbaum. At Pressbaum station, the attached Park-&-Ride facility offers 35 parking spaces for cars and mopeds. The Bike-&-Ride station has more than 15 bicycle parking spaces. These specific options may influence whether you want to arrive in your own vehicle, by train or by bicycle.
Which accommodation suits your stay?
When choosing a holiday apartment, your mode of arrival may be decisive: anyone planning to use the Western Railway line or the Park-&-Ride facility at the station will search differently from someone arriving by bicycle. Therefore, decide in advance whether train, car or bicycle should shape your stay, and base your daily planning in Pressbaum on that choice.
