Hadres reveals a distinctive side of the Weinviertel region: cellar lanes, wine-growing, viewpoints and signposted cycle paths shape the way it can be explored. The town offers a range of options for families and other travellers who want to combine culture with exercise and regional discoveries. When looking for a holiday apartment in Hadres, you can therefore consider whether your trip should focus more on cycling tours, wine-making traditions, historic routes or cultural visits.

Experience cellar lanes and wine-making traditions

Wine-growing has been the most important livelihood of Hadres's population since the Middle Ages. The history is particularly vivid in the Hadres Kellertrift. The Kellertrift is 1.6 km long and is a cultural heritage site whose essential substance remains preserved. The Polt Trail leads through Hadres's traditional cellar lanes. From the Keller-Wohlfühlplatz, visitors can also explore the longest and the oldest cellar lane.

The former old cellar lane “Seitweg” is another notable testimony to the town's history. It is around 400 years old. Those who want to get to know regional products can shop directly from regional producers at the Köllagossnmorkt. In winter, the Hadres Kellertrift hosts the longest Advent market in the Weinviertel. This gives the Kellertrift a different character depending on the time of year, without losing sight of the history of wine and the town.

Cycle paths along the border and routes through the Pulkau Valley

Signposted international and local cycle paths pass through Hadres along the border with the Czech Republic. The Keller-Wohlfühlplatz is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from April to October; visitors can find grape juice and water there. This specific stopping point can be taken into account when planning an active day.

Another option is the 51.56 km Polt Cycle Route. This circular tour through the Pulkau Valley visits filming locations from the Polt film series and leads into the Hadres cellar lane. Anyone making a longer cycling tour the focus of their day should take this route length into account when planning. For shorter days or days focused more strongly on culture, the cellar lanes, the Polt Trail and the local sights offer different themes instead.

Views, church and museums

Hadres parish church is located in the east of the town. Another viewpoint is “Auf der Ebm beim Freiheitskreuz” in Hadres, where the Hubertus Chapel is also located. The Urlauberkreuz Untermarkersdorf stands near the Czech border, directly in a vineyard, and offers views extending far beyond the borders.

The Zeissls Museum in Hadres is open from May to October on the first Sunday of every month from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Guided tours for groups are available year-round by prior arrangement and last about one hour. The Pulkautal Wine-Growing Museum's collection includes views of the village and the Kellertrift around 1900, as well as a complete inventory of cooper's tools. The museum was established to preserve the history of wine-growing and cellar management—from tending the vineyards and processing the grapes to storing the wine.

Cultural attractions for different types of travel days

Readings, discussions and exhibitions take place at the Krinzinger Lesehaus in the Weinviertel. Its library contains around 5,000 magazines in 16 different languages. The Romantik Theater offers full-day programmes featuring entertainment, culinary experiences, regional wines and culture. All areas of the Romantik Theater can be reached without encountering a step. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose between historical insights, literature, regional cuisine and a full-day cultural programme.
