Paßriach can be discovered through two distinctive themes: the free-standing branch church above the village and walks with waypoints at Lake Pressegger, among the reeds and in the village. There are also beach options and activities on the water. This brings local history, exercise and time by the shore together when planning a trip. Which holiday apartment is right for your stay depends above all on which of these themes you would like to focus on.

Church above the village

Paßriach branch church stands on higher ground above the village. It is a free-standing late Gothic building dedicated to Saint Valentine. Its location, architectural style and dedication give the village a distinctive cultural-historical feature. If you would like to include architecture in your travel plans alongside the lake and hiking trails, you will find a subject in its own right here. The church is quite different in character from experiences along the trails and lakeshore: rather than a route or swimming options, the focus is on a single sacred building.

Walks between the village and the reeds

The “Around Lake Pressegger” hike leads from Presseggen lido along the cycle path through the reed area and over two bridges to Paßriach. No hiking equipment is required for this particular hike. Paßriach is a destination on the route, making it a good fit for a trip planned around the village.

A second route, “Lago Pressegger attraverso Eggforst,” crosses an asphalt road in the area of the village of Paßriach; from there, Trail 73 heads north through the reed belt of Lake Pressegger. In wet conditions, an alternative route follows the paved R 3 cycle path through Burger Moos. The waypoints mentioned make the descriptions distinct: the first features Presseggen lido and two bridges, while the second features the road crossing, Trail 73 and the wet-weather alternative. Route details may change, so check the current description before setting out. The village’s role differs: Paßriach is the destination of the first hike; on the second, the road crossing is in the area of the village.

Lakeshore and swimming options

On the southern shore of Lake Pressegger, Oswald “Seehexe” lido is located on the lakeside circuit trail. At Strandbad & Restaurant Seehexe, swimming in the lake is possible after purchasing an admission ticket, subject to availability; pedal boat rides are also available. Check the availability of the respective activities before visiting. Samerhof Beach is a public beach on the lakeshore.
