El Serrat is a destination for anyone who likes to combine their trip with specific routes and a cultural stop. GRP-Run Stage 04 starts in the village and ends in Soldeu. The challenging mountain biking route 31 also starts here and leads to the Ordino-Arcalís ski resort. The church of Sant Pere del Serrat houses an altarpiece dedicated to Saint Peter, dating from the late 16th or early 17th century.

Routes starting in El Serrat

As it leaves El Serrat, GRP-Run Stage 04 passes the hermitage of Sant Pere del Serrat. When planning this stage, take the weather and navigation conditions into account: check both before your tour. Starting in El Serrat and finishing in Soldeu gives the stage a clear route.

Mountain biking route 31 El Serrat–Arcalís is different: it is a challenging, linear 10-kilometre route with an elevation difference of 439 metres. The route type, difficulty rating and elevation gain are useful measures when estimating the effort required for a bike ride. The route passes the church of Sant Pere del Serrat, which is considered a worthwhile stop with views over the Ordino valley.

Sant Pere: a stop steeped in history

The church of Sant Pere del Serrat houses an altarpiece dedicated to Saint Peter. It dates from the late 16th or early 17th century. The site brings together two different interests: the church is a stop on the mountain biking route, while the altarpiece offers a specific glimpse into the history of the religious building. If you like to include culture in an active tour, this combination offers an idea for a trip in its own right.

Nature and culture in the wider destination of Ordino

The wider destination of Ordino also has trails that are easy to distinguish by their length and stops. In Sorteny Nature Park, the self-guided Camí de la marta is 500 metres long and has ten interpretive stops, running from the park’s information hut to the botanical garden. The Camí del Grau de la Llosa is 400 metres long and also has ten interpretive stops. It follows the Sorteny River from the forest track to the botanical garden. Both trails end there, but differ in length and route.

In the wider destination of Ordino, the Bosc Viu walk in the l’Esquella d’Ordino forest introduces children aged three and older to the legend of the Tió de Nadal through its thematically decorated trees. Another cultural experience is the annual Sant Pere parish festival: on the evening of June 28, Ordino celebrates the start of summer by lighting bonfires and burning the Mai de Sant Pere.

For winter sports, Ordino Arcalís in the wider destination of Ordino offers more than 30 kilometres of skiable terrain, with runs for all ability levels, from beginner to expert. The ski area also has five marked ski touring circuits, totalling eleven kilometres. The offer may vary by season; check the current operating conditions and rules before your trip.

Choose a holiday apartment to suit your travel plans

When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to start by listing the activities you want to do: would you like to plan one of the two routes that start in El Serrat, or include trails, winter activities and cultural experiences in the wider destination of Ordino as well? The differences are clear: the mountain biking route is a challenging, linear 10-kilometre trail; the two Sorteny trails are each shorter and have ten interpretive stops.
