Art and Technology in Canillo
The Baroque main altarpiece of the Church of Sant Serni in Canillo dates from the 17th century and is dedicated to Sant Serni, a 3rd-century bishop and martyr from Toulouse. The dedication links the artwork to a figure from a much earlier period: the altarpiece and the figure it honours represent two distinct historical eras.
The Museu de la Moto in Canillo features early steam-powered motorcycles, including a model by Sylvester Howard Roper from 1867, early petrol motorcycles from the late 19th century, as well as racing, road and off-road motorcycles. The specific connection to Roper’s model and the variety of motorcycle types give the collection its focus on the history of technology.
