Holiday Apartment in Sasaj – Southern Coastal Trail and Coast
Sasaj is considered a small coastal mountain village overlooking the olive groves of Piqeras. Particularly characteristic are the Southern Coastal Trail, the coastal paths on the mountainside and the various historical sites in the surrounding area. As a result, hiking routes, the coast, mountain scenery and cultural destinations come together within a relatively small area.
Coastal Paths
The Southern Coastal Trail runs as a hiking route between Piqeras, Sasaj and Lavani Pass and includes the Piqeras–Sasaj–Lavani Pass section. On the section through Sasaj, the route passes the HEC Sasaj hydroelectric power plant, turns into a gravel track and then follows a pebble beach for 300 metres. The coastal hiking trail through Sasaj also follows an uphill old paved and unpaved road along a mountainside with terraced olive groves overgrown with ferns. This includes a scenic coastal section beside abandoned terraces on the way to Lukovë.
Landscape
There are three peaks in the immediate vicinity of Sasaj: Maja e Lavanit, Maja e Lugjeve and Maja e Piksës. Mount Mal Lucë is located near Sasaj. From Lukovë, a mountain path may offer views of the stone-built village of Sasaj on the mountainside. In this way, the paths, terraces, olive groves and peaks appear in different spatial relationships around the village.
Getting There and the Coast
Sasaj Beach is located away from the SH8 coastal road between Borsh and Lukovë; an access road leads towards the coast. A car is strongly recommended for Sasaj Beach, as the buses on the Saranda–Himara–Vlora route run above along the SH8 and do not stop at the beach. A paved lane connects Sasaj with the national road and was built during the Italian period.
History and Culture
The ruins of Hundëcovë, Ali Pasha Castle and the Kalaja e Borshit fortress are located in the area around Sasaj. The ancient site of Phoinike lies in the wider regional surroundings of Sasaj. Labe polyphonic singing has also been documented in Sasaj. Thus, in addition to the coastal paths, named evidence from various historical and cultural contexts can be found in the village’s wider surroundings.
These points make different accommodations objectively comparable. Also make sure that the respective information applies to the desired period and the planned number of guests. The offers can then be compared side by side based on the same points. When reviewing an offer, you can consider the exact location, type of accommodation and stated occupancy separately. It is also worth looking at included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions. Compare these points for the desired period and planned number of guests so that the differences between the offers remain comprehensible. What matters here is only what is expressly stated on the respective offer page; the characteristics of the location do not allow any properties of an individual accommodation to be inferred. This keeps the assessment tied to the specific travel dates and the conditions actually stated.
