There are also megaliths and other Neolithic remains, including polishing workshops and traces of tool sharpening. Monumental stone forms and evidence of toolworking therefore stand side by side. The park’s geological formation is also part of its character: it lies in a massif of igneous megaliths formed through the natural weathering of the basaltic bedrock. This broad rationale reflects the park’s many facets: its status as cultural heritage is linked to its archaeological evidence as well as to its geology, nature, and culture.

This is a different historical scale from Ahouakro’s archaeological and Neolithic evidence: here, the focus is on planned quarters and the layout of a city.
The preserved Sudanese-style mosques in northern Côte d’Ivoire also offer a distinct cultural perspective. Most were built between the 17th and 19th centuries and combine a style developed in Djenné around the 14th century with local forms and techniques from Gur and Mandé cultural areas. The mosques bear witness to an exchange of influences in these cultural regions between the 14th and 18th centuries. Their features include low, tapering rectangular or square forms, massive pillars made of wood or earth blocks, tall minarets shaped like truncated pyramids or pointed arches, and conical qibla towers.
