The Corat Mosque was built in 1707 in Sumgayit’s Corat settlement and has preserved its original appearance. The settlement also preserves several mosques, baths, inscriptions, graves, shrines, and the remains of Shah Abbas’s caravanserai from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Sumgayit History Museum preserves more than 14,000 museum objects and presents the city’s origins and development in historical, industrial, social, archaeological, and visual exhibitions. A separate presentation reconstructs the lifestyle of Corat’s residents and the domestic life of Sumgayit’s first builders.
