Discover Akdam: Settlement History and Yayla Connections
Accommodation in Akdam
Akdam combines a local history that dates back to its separation from Avsallar with roads to yaylas and surrounding places. For planning your trip, these offer two different perspectives: the development of the settlement itself and its regional connections. If you are looking for a holiday rental, you can first decide whether Akdam’s history or journeys to the named places and yaylas should shape your stay.
Roads and regional orientation
The 10-kilometre group road connects Akdam Yaylası with the districts of Hadim and Bozkır in Konya Province. On 12 September 2026, the municipality reported that the route had been paved and opened to traffic. It described it as an important connection used by numerous yaylas. The road makes it easier for agricultural producers to transport their products; it also serves the region’s population for production, health care and everyday needs. In its report on the opening, the municipality highlighted the summer in particular: for people travelling to the yaylas, the route would provide safer and more comfortable access. As road conditions can change, check the current situation before setting out.
A second detail concerns the road between Akdam and Kızılgeriş: it is 4 kilometres long and used by 22 yaylas. The municipality mentioned this use on 8 October 2025 in connection with improvement works. The aim was to make the well-used road safer and more comfortable. The two lengths refer to different connections: the 10-kilometre route is associated with Hadim and Bozkır, while the 4-kilometre road is associated with Kızılgeriş and its use by 22 yaylas.
Work was also reported in the Çobanlar area: a 500-metre section of concrete road between Akdam Mahallesi and Avsallar Mahallesi had been completed by 20 March 2025. This detail locates another specific section in the vicinity of the two named mahalle.
Akdam’s settlement history and earlier visitors
The connection with Avsallar is central to the historical perspective on the area. One historical account describes Akdam as the first neighbourhood to separate from Avsallar. An article published in a cultural magazine in 2013 dates this separation to 1935. The account passed down through the years links the development to a fire: according to the story, families then began leaving Avsallar; the families who moved away later established villages or small towns of their own, including Akdam. The year 1935 refers to the separation, while the story of the fire also encompasses the migration and subsequent formation of settlements.
Later reports turn their attention to the western yaylas. A municipal announcement dated 14 September 2018 listed Akdam among the western yaylas whose roads had been paved and opened to traffic. Residents reported at the time that people from outside the local population also began coming to the yaylas afterward. On 31 July 2023, Alanya’s mayor visited 23 western yaylas, including Akdam, on a two-day tour described as traditional; he met residents and viewed investments in the region. The two dated accounts describe different situations: the influx of visitors at the time following road openings, and a regional visit involving meetings and site visits.
Choose the focus that suits you
This suggests a practical way to choose a holiday rental: the local history connects Akdam with Avsallar, while the road reports provide information about named routes and their regional use. If you are mainly interested in settlement history, the separation from Avsallar is a specific starting point. If you are planning trips to the named yaylas, take into account the relevant road, its destination and current conditions.
