Aladağ between the mountains and Meydan Yaylası
Accommodation in Aladağ
Aladağ opens onto a mountain landscape with natural attractions nearby and throughout the district. Meydan Yaylası lies at an altitude of 1,700 metres; junipers, pines, firs, cedars and orchards characterise the plateau. In the northern part of the district is also the section of the Taurus Mountains known as Aladağlar. When choosing a holiday apartment, it is worth distinguishing between destinations in the town and those elsewhere in the district: not every trip leads directly to the town centre.
Meydan Yaylası: trails and forest landscape
The Meydan Yaylası ecotourism area is near the district and includes an 18,798-metre-long nature trail with alternative routes. The options offer different trail routes for planning your outing. Along the nature trail, you can spot the Cinereous Vulture and the Sombre Tit. The trail thus combines exercise with an attentive look at the birdlife.
Camping and picnicking are possible in the wooded area of the yayla and at the edge of the forest. Hiking, camping and picnicking are therefore different ways to spend time in nature. The yayla is six kilometres from the district of Aladağ and can be reached via a paved gravel road. From the district centre, it is accessible by minibus and public transport. Check current connections and availability before setting out.
Mountain landscape and destinations in the district
Aladağlar National Park lies north of the nature trail in the Meydan Yaylası ecotourism area. It covers a total of 55,064 hectares and lies within the boundaries of three provinces: Niğde, including the district of Çamardı; Kayseri, including the district of Yahyalı; and Adana, including the district of Aladağ. This expanse gives the natural attractions around Aladağ a broader mountain setting that extends beyond a single town.
Another well-known tourist destination in the district is Küp Şelaleleri. The group consists of ten waterfalls and lies 37 kilometres from the district of Aladağ. Its distance from the district of Aladağ gives you a separate reference point for planning your outing.
Park grounds and other places
Yedigöze Orman Parkı is also among the district’s well-known tourist spots. The area covers 490,000 square metres. A municipal announcement dated 7 June 2023 mentioned gazebos, picnic tables, tourist infrastructure and barbecue facilities. A restaurant opened in the park on 6 February 2024. These dated details do not describe current operating or access conditions. Before visiting, therefore, check whether access, facilities and restaurant operations suit your plans.
Other well-known tourist spots in the district include Meydan Kalesi and Akören Kilisesi. Akören has two settlements named Akören 1 and Akören 2. These places complement the natural attractions with other sites to consider when planning an exploration of the district.
Choose Aladağ as your base
For the yayla, the six-kilometre distance from the district and the minibus and public transport connections from the district centre are relevant; check current availability in advance. For destinations outside the immediate area, it is worth considering each one’s location separately. This can help you find a holiday apartment in Aladağ based on the mix of nature experiences and trips around the district you have planned.
