A rectangular mosque with a pitched roof and eleven windows, a surviving minaret, and a temple in the surrounding area give Boğazlıyan a clear cultural and historical focus. Mosques and architectural history

According to Prof. Dr. Hakkı Acun, the Hacı-Ahmet-Ağa Mosque in the center of Boğazlıyan district was built before 1719. Its architectural features include a rectangular floor plan, a pitched roof, and eleven windows. Its three-part, semicylindrical wooden ceiling is supported in the main section by four wooden columns. The historic mosque is being faithfully restored by the General Directorate of Foundations; it had already undergone several repairs in the past.

Only the minaret of the Çarşı Mosque remains from the historic central mosque complex. It stands in a garden northeast of the Çarşı Mosque. The historic Eski Camii is also part of the architectural history of the district center: it was reported to have been restored and reopened for prayer and visits. The historic Çarşı Hamam in Aşağı Mahalle resumed operations.

A temple in the surrounding area

Within the boundaries of Yazıkışla lies the Yazıkışla Temple, which is estimated to date from the 1st or 2nd century. Its rectangular floor plan, triangular pediment, and wide roof overhangs give the structure a distinctive form. It is made of hewn stone and stands on a hill overlooking the surrounding area. In its appearance, this site is clearly different from the mosques in the center of Boğazlıyan. When planning your trip, you can therefore combine a cultural and historical focus in the district with a separate destination in the surrounding area.

Cultural venues and announced events

The Boğazlıyan Congress and Cultural Center is located opposite the district market. The municipal events calendar announced a film screening in the Boğazlıyan Municipality cinema hall. A talk and book-signing with a guest at 8:30 p.m. was also announced at the cultural center. The location of the center and the district market provides a concrete point of reference within the district, while the event announcements describe different forms of cultural life.

During the traditional Motofest, a road safety seminar for children took place on June 1, 2025. Through practical demonstrations and interactive instruction, it covered safe motorcycle riding and the importance of helmets and protective gear. A sand art performance, special shows for children, and poetry and folk song performances were announced for the traditional Boğazlıyan Book Days; the event was scheduled for October 6–12. Watercourse and thermal tourism

In the associated municipality, the Boğazlıyan Çayı, also called Kozan Özü, is one of the headwaters of the Delice River and the most important watercourse in Boğazlıyan district. The Boğazlıyan Thermal Springs lie within the boundaries of Bahariye village, 3 km from Boğazlıyan district. A Council of Ministers decision designated them as a thermal tourism center. Both an important watercourse in the district and the precise location and designated tourist purpose of the thermal springs are therefore relevant for understanding the area.
