Lunas brings together the animal and water attractions of Ruza Agrotech with religious sites, a restored rubber smokehouse and roasted duck dishes. When looking for a holiday rental in Lunas, you can start by considering whether shared outings, cultural history or regional cuisine will shape your trip. If you’re planning a trip with children, you can take these different interests into account when choosing activities.

Animal and water attractions at Ruza Agrotech

Ruza Agrotech in Lunas has a wildlife park and a water theme park. Visitors can feed the animals and buy animal feed at the kiosks there. The two attractions have different focuses, which you can take into account when planning a trip together: animal encounters and water activities. If you’re planning a trip with children, you can include these themes when choosing outings together.

Religious sites and local history

The Lunas Buddhist Hermitage was founded by Venerable Acara Suvanno, who died in 2007. The Hock Teik Soo Temple is believed to date from 1889; its principal deity is Da Bo Gong. Together, these sites represent different religious influences in Lunas’s history. Jalan Sungai is considered the place where Lunas began, providing another historical point of reference within the town.

Rubber smokehouse

The Lunas Rubber Smoke House was built in 1961 for local smallholder rubber farmers, who smoked rubber there. The restored building includes an area dedicated to Lunas’s history and an authentic depiction of a rubber smokehouse.

Roasted duck dishes

Lunas is associated with various roasted duck dishes. If regional cuisine is important to your travel plans, this adds a culinary focus to the historical and activity-based themes.

In the wider destination of Kulim

The wider destination of Kulim offers further historical points of interest. On 12 January 1963, Kampung Sedim was renamed Kampung Lindungan Raja to commemorate the protection the residents had provided to Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah. Rumah Lindungan Raja has stood in Kampung Sedim in the Daerah Kulim since 1934. Its walls are decorated with carvings in the shape of bamboo shoots. The renaming preserves the memory of the protection that was provided; the carvings add a specific architectural detail to the house.

At Hutan Lipur Sungai Sedim in Karangan, Kulim, visitors can kayak and raft; the park also has a 1,454-metre forest trail. The Tree Top Walk Sungai Sedim crosses the Sungai Sedim river. Providers for kayaking and rafting may vary. Access to the forest trail and its conditions may also change; check before visiting.

When looking for a holiday rental in Lunas, you can first organise your trip around two levels: which themes in the town itself matter to you, and whether you’d also like to include the wider destination of Kulim. This lets you plan for local interests and regional outings separately.
