Higashikagura: Forest Park, Cycling Road and Daisetsuzan
Accommodation in Higashikagura
Higashikagura brings together flowering landscapes, cycling routes and several golf courses with a shrine whose history dates back to the 19th century. Higashikagura Forest Park is a prominent landmark: it lies about 8 kilometres east of the town centre and is designed as an activity-oriented resort. If you are looking for a holiday rental, consider whether the park, your journey or a particular activity should be the focus of your trip.
Forest park with cherry trees and a lake
Higashikagura Forest Park has about 200 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees, and around 3,000 trees in total. Flowers add splashes of colour in every season. In the centre of the park is an artificial lake surrounded by forest. Different impressions come together across the grounds: cherry blossoms and other flowers, wooded surroundings and an open expanse of water. The park’s location is also a useful reference point when choosing where to stay: it is about 8 kilometres east of the town centre.
Cycling between Higashikagura 4-gō and Forest Park
The Chubetsu River Cycling Road runs 15.2 kilometres from the Higashikagura 4-gō area near the Asahikawa Twin Harp Bridge to Higashikagura Forest Park. Its start and end points and route length give you concrete reference points if you are considering cycling as part of your trip. Bicycles can be rented in the park. Sign up at the bicycle terminal.
Options include city bikes for 500 yen per two hours and cross and fitness bikes for 500 yen. Single-seat electric bicycles cost 2,000 yen for four hours or 500 yen per hour, plus 500 yen for each additional hour. Tandem electric bicycles are listed at 500 yen per hour. Since availability and rental conditions should be checked before your trip, it is worth making a current enquiry before basing your plans on a particular bike or price.
Golf courses with different features
Daisetsuzan Country Club lies at the foot of the Daisetsuzan range and has two golf courses with a combined total of 36 holes and par 72. When playing at the 4-gō Riverside Park Golf Course, you can see the Daisetsuzan mountains; the course has 18 holes, is 920 metres long and has par 66. The 14-gō Riverside Park Golf Course is by the river near Higashikagura’s built-up area. It is spacious and gently undulating, has the Azalea and Hibari courses, and features a total of 36 holes, a length of 1,908 metres and par 132. Hole count, length and location help distinguish the courses based on their described features. Check current operating conditions before visiting.
Weighing up transport and accommodation location

Shrine and camping at Forest Park
Higashikagura Shrine was established as Kagura Shrine in 1897. In 1918, its establishment as Higashikagura Village Shrine was approved. At the shrine is a tunnel of windmills in ten colours—a colourful accent alongside the town’s historical milestones.
Higashikagura Forest Park also has a car camping site with a total of 50 pitches for camping vehicles, as well as standard pitches A and B. Each pitch is at least 120 square metres and is equipped with electricity and water and wastewater connections. If you are including this camping option in your holiday plans, confirm its operating status before your trip. The information about the park, cycling, golf and transport offers different starting points for deciding which part of Higashikagura best suits your holiday rental search.
