When choosing a vacation rental in Awa District, it helps to consider the kind of day you have in mind: short scenic walks, longer strolls, and cultural activities each involve different planning considerations. In the outing ideas below, walking times, weather, and timetables all play a practical role.

Kyonan: Scenic Views and Outdoor Activities

Electric-assist rental bicycles are available for excursions within Kyonan. Rental details may change, so check them in advance. Another way to experience the landscape is to visit the observation tower at the summit of Mount Daikoku. The climb takes about ten minutes on foot. From the top, you can see Katsuyama Fishing Port, the townscape, and the Mineoka mountain range. On a clear day, you can also see Mount Fuji and the Izu Islands.

Sakuma Dam Park combines walking paths with several distinct points of interest, including a monument plaza, a rock garden, a splash pool, a Yatsuhashi bridge, and a viewing area. About 2,200 cherry trees line the paths, including Kawazu-zakura, Somei-yoshino, and yaezakura varieties. The walking path in the park is about 2.4 kilometers long. A viewing area, reached in a two- to three-minute walk, offers views of the dam and surrounding mountains. Sakuma Dam was built as an agricultural dam in the Okuzure district.

The popular Egatsuki Daffodil Road requires a longer walk: the trail is about three kilometers long and takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes one way. This makes it easier to estimate the time needed than for the park path, for which no walking time is given. By contrast, the Daikoku observation tower requires a short climb of about ten minutes. These details help you distinguish between the different walks when planning your day.

Michi-no-Eki Kyonan also offers a clear point of reference by the water: it is located on Tokyo Bay, with a beach resort right next door. Which of these experiences you prioritize depends on whether you are looking for scenic views, a longer walk, or time by the water.

Culture and History

The “Minamoto Yoritomo Course” walking route explores the Jōmon and Kamakura periods. Another historical site is Ryushima: it is regarded as the place where Minamoto no Yoritomo came ashore, is designated as a Historic Site of Chiba Prefecture, and features a landing monument. This is distinct from a walking route that focuses on historical periods.

At the Hishikawa Moronobu Memorial Museum, visitors can try multicolor printing of ukiyo-e prints in workshops. This offers a hands-on introduction to printmaking, while the Minamoto Yoritomo Course explores history through its focus on a particular period.

Getting There and Accommodation

Since May 2026, some services on the Kamogawa–Tokyo route of the “Axy” express bus have stopped at Michi-no-Eki Hota Elementary School. The trip from underground area B of Tokyo Yaesu Bus Terminal via the Aqua-Line usually takes about 80 minutes. As timetables and fares may change, check the latest services before departure.

Michi-no-Eki Hota Elementary School also has accommodation. If it suits your plans, check availability and booking terms in advance. The direct sales outlet mainly carries agricultural products from the region; selection may vary. This lets you consider accommodation, transport, and a possible shopping stop as separate planning items without overlooking their different requirements.
