Havatzelet Hasharon’s connection to the coast extends from nearby Neurim Beach to regional routes and landscape features. You can plan your trip around your preferred focus: the beach, surfing, or nature.

Beach and Surfing

Nearby, Neurim Beach lies below the settlements of Havatzelet Hasharon and Tzukey Yam, west of Havatzelet Hasharon and between Netanya to the south and Beit Yanai to the north. The beach has shaded areas, toilets, showers, and a restaurant. Free beach loungers and umbrellas are available to visitors on the sand. Check that beach facilities are currently operating before you set out.

Coastal Route and Landscape

On Section 18 of the Israel National Trail, the route heads south from Beit Yanai Beach along the coast and below the cliff. It then passes through the Havatzelet Hasharon Coastal Nature Reserve and by the bathing beaches of northern Netanya. Beit Yanai and Neurim Beach are two distinct points of reference: the described section begins at Beit Yanai Beach.

A nature reserve has been proposed north of Netanya along the kurkar cliffs. It lies immediately west of the road connecting Netanya with the settlement of Tzukey Yam. Further along the coast, the sandbanks are rich in marine life; this stretch of coast is the most indented between Mikhmoret and Jaffa. Mastic shrubs, cistus, coastal thorn, thyme, hairy flax, and spiny burnet grow in the coastal scrub of the proposed reserve; sea lavender is also found there. Cistus is rare there.

Bike Route Plans from 2018

A plan published in 2018 proposed a bike route from the Havatzelet Hasharon junction to Beit Yanai Beach. From there, one branch was to lead to the Hof Hefer settlement area, while another was to run via Neurim Beach, Tzukey Yam, and Shoshanat HaAmakim to Havatzelet Hasharon. At the time, bike routes in Emek Hefer were at different stages of planning and implementation.
