Evron offers several distinct ways to explore history: early settlement, archaeological finds, security duties in the kibbutz and products from porcelain production. A cycling tour and a vehicle tour offer different perspectives, too. When planning, you can focus on the topics that interest you most.

Museums spanning settlement history and porcelain

The “Kibbutz Shel Pa’am” Museum displays a varied collection of objects from the early settlement period. The Archaeological Museum and Garden in Evron are associated with finds that include traces of early settlement, tools, animal bones, the tusk of a prehistoric elephant and an ancient mosaic floor. These topics offer different points of reference: objects from the settlement period are presented alongside finds connected to the area’s earlier history.

The Evron Pillbox Museum focuses on guarding and security. The museum includes a guard post, a searchlight, weapons and communications equipment used by the kibbutz’s night watchmen and security forces. A visit can be included in the Evron Circuit by prior arrangement. The Naaman Factory Museum offers a different perspective on local history: it displays porcelain tools, products and exhibits, as well as objects made at the Naaman factory. A visit to this museum can also be included in the Evron Circuit by prior arrangement.

Tours and activities with different focuses

The “Green Electricity” tour begins with a meeting at Kibbutz Evron. From there, a vehicle takes visitors to a power generation station at a landfill; the tour must be arranged in advance. For cycling enthusiasts, a tour runs from Evron to Rosh HaNikra and back. The two offerings differ in their format: one is vehicle-based and must be arranged in advance, while the other is a cycling route.

Country Gan Evron is a country club at Kibbutz Evron that is also open to non-resident members. Together, the local attractions offer a range of experiences: the museums focus on collections, archaeology and kibbutz history, while each tour offers a different activity. When choosing a holiday rental in Evron, your interests can help guide your choice: would you like to focus your stay mainly on the museums, or are you more interested in the cycling tour and the “Green Electricity” tour, which must be arranged in advance?

Archaeological perspectives in the Northern District

In the wider Northern District destination, Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo are part of the archaeological heritage. Tel Hazor is a biblical tell with significant remains of a city connected to the Bible; visits focus on the upper city. Tel Hazor includes Solomon’s Gate, with six chambers and two towers dating from the 10th century BC. The Canaanite palace at Tel Hazor was used by the kings of Hazor in the 14th and 13th centuries BC.

Tel Hazor’s underground water collection system also illustrates the archaeological significance of the site: it preserves remains of a sophisticated water storage engineering project adapted to the geographical conditions. The excavated shaft is 45 metres deep; in the water system, steps three metres wide are carved into the walls of the vertical shaft. Tel Hazor National Park can be reached from the north and south via Route 90 towards Ayelet Hashahar. Check your navigation before setting out.

Tel Megiddo offers a different focus. The tell preserves significant remains of a city connected to the Bible. The Early Bronze Age temple complex is exceptional for the number of its temples, the continuity of its cultic activity and its documented ritual practices. The orthogonal city plan dates from the Iron Age and has few parallels in the Levant. In the Northern District, water engineering, temple complexes and urban planning thus represent distinct archaeological themes.
