Shoham: Forest Trails and Anemone Blossoms
Accommodation in Shoham
The natural Shoham Forest Park covers about 2,000 dunams and is connected to Shoham by trails. The trails offer different options: a loop around Givat HaSaflulim or a short route south to an outdoor classroom. There are also open and wooded sections of hills, as well as anemone blossoms in February and March. You can plan your day in the forest around a specific destination, type of trail or seasonal display of blossoms.
Forest Landscape and Blossoms
The southern part of the Shoham Community Forest covers about 540 dunams and is characterised by plantings of Mediterranean woodland trees and fruit trees. The forest’s hilly area is partly open and partly wooded. In February and March, anemone blossoms lend the landscape a range of colours. The impression of the hilly landscape changes between the more open and wooded areas; the blossoms add their own seasonal accent.
Trails and Navigation in the Forest
Givat HaSaflulim lies south of the central car park in the forest, named after Yossi Barsler. This named car park helps you pinpoint the hill’s location. The Orchards Trail is a red-marked loop around Givat HaSaflulim and is about two kilometres long. Its markings, loop format and approximate length give the route a clear profile for planning your day. The loop returns to its starting point.
A short, accessible trail leads south from Khirbet Tinshemet to an outdoor classroom in the forest. The two trail descriptions differ in their format and destination: the Orchards Trail loops around the hill, while the short trail leads to the outdoor classroom. Walking and cycling are permitted on a trail in Shoham Forest Park.
Another trail runs between fruit trees and agricultural terraces, with jujube trees and prickly pear hedges growing in between. This trail scene differs from the open and wooded hillsides, with its terraces and the vegetation described. Some of Shoham’s community events also take place in Shoham Forest Park. If you are planning your visit around an event, check the specific dates in advance.
Shoham as a Base
When choosing a holiday apartment in Shoham, your preferred focus may be a deciding factor. Would you like to plan a marked loop, take a short trail to a specific destination or see the anemone blossoms in February and March? The trails connect Shoham Forest Park with Shoham, providing a specific reference point when looking for a base. Which side of the forest you want to explore can shape your day’s plans: the type of trail, its destination and the landscape offer different starting points.
