The two sites offer different cultural perspectives: the cultural heritage designation is the point of interest at Gereja Sion, while Pagoda Ekayana is notable as a Buddhist place of worship. Plan hikes carefully

For a trip that includes mountain hikes, current conditions are a separate planning consideration. According to a notice dated August 30, 2026, the Tomohon city administration closed hiking activities on Gunung Lokon, Gunung Empung, and Gunung Mahawu and restricted further hiking activities there. Check the status before your trip if you want to hike one of these mountains. If hiking is your main reason for traveling, clarify this early in your planning.
