Mtwapa: Creek and accommodation

Mtwapa on Kenya’s coast is a starting point for Mtwapa Creek. When booking a holiday apartment, it is important to check where a potential visit actually begins; the place name guarantees neither a waterfront location nor a bookable tour offering.

On site and in the surrounding area

• The organisation KWETU initiated an ecotourism project at Mtwapa Creek.
• As part of this project, 23 young people were trained as ecotourism guides.
• A boardwalk at the creek was renovated as part of the project; its current condition and access are not established by this information.

Plan your stay

Before taking a creek tour, check current providers, access rules, the weather and the actual meeting point. Compare holiday apartments by address and amenities rather than assuming that the project means guided tours are generally available.
