The city, known by the two names - Istanbul and Constantinople, is rightfully one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the world. It is often called a museum city, and it is true, yet in Istanbul are combined ancient cathedrals and mosques, fortresses and palaces, which by its magnificence and grandeur attract millions of tourists from all over the world. Unusual is not only the location of the city on two continents - Europe and Asia, but also the peaceful coexistence of two religions: Christianity and Islam. It is not an accident that along with the Germanic city of Essen and the Hungarian Pec, Istanbul is the cultural capital of Europe 2010.
